Meet Dr. Shankaran, MD, FACS
I am a board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I provide a wide range of plastic surgery procedures, including breast reconstruction, body contouring, mommy makeovers and facial surgery.
As a breast reconstruction specialist, my primary interest is helping women following mastectomy. My years of experience treating breast cancer survivors have taught me what a personal and intimate experience mastectomy and breast reconstruction can be. I consider it one of my most rewarding tasks to help women regain self-confidence through reconstructive surgery.
I am excited to bring my knowledge and skills to Canada and serve the people of Saskatchewan to the best of my abilities. I completed my training in the United States and spent approximately seven years in both University-based and private practice settings;
I am delighted to live and work in this beautiful province.
Plastic, Cosmetic, and Reconstructive Procedures
Breast
There are three general categories of cosmetic surgery performed on the breasts - breast augmentation, breast lift, and breast reduction.
Breast augmentation uses breast implants to create a more voluptuous, fuller shape. Breast lift/mastopexy involves reshaping the existing breast tissue/skin to make a more youthful breast shape. Breast reduction removes excess breast tissue and lifts the nipple, reshaping your breasts and removing sagging skin.
Cosmetic Surgery
Cosmetic surgery is performed for aesthetic or reconstructive purposes. Cosmetic procedures are designed to improve a person's overall appearance, self-esteem and self-confidence by modifying regions of the face and body for aesthetic purposes. This type of surgery includes the correction of defects due to injury or disease, the liposuction of problem areas such as hips or thighs, facelifts, or even eyelid surgery.
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck (also known as abdominoplasty) is a surgical procedure that reshapes your abdomen.
Tummy tuck surgeries tighten the abdominal area, improve muscle tone and shape, reduce loose skin due to weight loss or pregnancy, flatten scars left by previous surgery or injury, and reshape protruding stomach tissue. A tummy tuck can help strengthen and remodel your midsection to help you feel better about your body.
Mommy Makeover
Mommy makeover surgery combines a breast lift and breast augmentation or liposuction, and tummy tuck. It helps address many problems like sagging breasts, stretched abdominal walls, and excess fat around the abdomen.
A mommy makeover surgery dramatically changes your body without subjecting you to multiple surgeries and recovery periods.
Non-Surgical and Rejuvenation Services
Botox
Botox is a safe, effective and long-lasting non-surgical cosmetic procedure for facial lifting and wrinkle reduction. Botox injections can result in a smoother appearance of frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead wrinkles, giving you a more youthful appearance.
A Botox injection does not require anesthetic, and the results are almost immediate!
Dermal-Filler
Dermal filler includes a wide variety of injectable products used to fill in wrinkles and help restore a more youthful shape to the cheeks/lips/jowls. The results can range from a very subtle lip plumping to a more dramatic reshaping along the cheekbones.
The injections can be performed in the office without anesthetic and the results are immediate.
